Trail Segment Closed for Zoo Interchange Construction

Due to the reconstruction of the Zoo Interchange, a section of the Hank Aaron State Trail will be close from 94th Place to approximately 123rd Street. A detour route using the Oak Leaf Trail and city streets has been marked.

The closed segment of the Trail goes under many of the structures that will be demolished and reconstructed for new freeway ramps. Because of that major impact, the west end of the Trail will be closed until work is completed on all portions of the Zoo Interchange that go over the Trail. The estimate is that it will be closed until 2018.

There will be lots of equipment on this section, but the good news is that the DOT will re-grade and asphalt the Trail when work is completed. They will also construct a ramp that will go up to Hwy 100, so that trail users can go from the Trail to the Milwaukee County Zoo.

Trail segments east of 94th Place should not be impacted by this project.
